How to set up Media Types?

Media Types define high-level categories such as TV, Radio, Print, Online, and Outdoor. Setting them up ensures that media schedules, bookings, and reports are organized consistently across the agency.

Steps to Set Up Media Types

  1. Go to NAVIGATION BAR > MEDIA > Media Master Files > Media Types.

  2. Select New Media Type.

  3. Complete the Media Type Name field (for example: Broadcast, Online, Print, Outdoor).

  4. Check the appropriate category boxes if applicable:

    1. Broadcast: Use for TV or radio activity.

    2. Online: Use for digital channels such as display, search, or social.

  5. If your agency requires reconciliation of actuals before invoicing, select Requires Appearance Reconciliation.

  6. Click Save to create the Media Type.

  7. To update or delete a Media Type, return to the Media Types list, select the type, make changes, and click Save or Delete.

Key Concepts

  • Mandatory Field: Media Type Name must be entered to save.
  • Categories: Broadcast and Online are high-level flags used to define workflows.
  • Reconciliation: Enabling “Requires Appearance Reconciliation” ensures invoices cannot be approved until appearances are matched against bookings.
  • Foundation Setup: Media Types are the parent categories; specific channels are created as Mediums.
Why It Matters

Properly setting Media Types ensures that schedules, bookings, and reports remain consistent across all jobs. It creates a clean structure for agency reporting and supports downstream accounting accuracy.
