How to set up Mediums?
Mediums define specific channels within a Media Type, such as a TV network, online platform, or print publication. Setting up Mediums ensures media schedules and bookings are tied to the correct suppliers and reporting categories.
Steps to Set Up Mediums
- Go to NAVIGATION BAR > MEDIA > Media Master Files > Mediums.
- Select New Medium.
- Complete the required fields:
- Medium Code: A short identifier for the Medium (for example: NBC01).
- Medium Name: Full name of the Medium (for example: NBC Television).
- Supplier: Select the default supplier linked to this Medium.
- Media Type: Assign the category (e.g., Broadcast, Online, Print).
- Complete optional fields if needed:
- Currency: Currency used for bookings in this Medium.
- Booking Deadline No. Days: Number of days required before a booking deadline.
- Material Deadline No. Days: Number of days required before creative material is due.
- Tax Status: Select Taxable or Non-Taxable.
- Media Commission %: Default commission percentage for this Medium.
- Tax %: Default tax rate applied to bookings.
- Confirm the Active checkbox is selected if the Medium is currently in use.
- Click Save to create the Medium.
- Medium Code + Name: Use a consistent code and clear name for reporting.
- Supplier Link: Ensures supplier invoices are automatically tied to the correct vendor.
- Deadlines: Useful for tracking booking and material lead times.
- Commission and Tax: Defaults here save time when creating schedules and invoices.
- Active Status: Allows you to deactivate Mediums no longer in use without deleting history
Correct Medium setup ensures every booking and invoice is tied to the right channel and supplier. This prevents accounting errors, supports compliance, and ensures clear financial and operational reporting.
