How to view client churn reports

View details for clients "lost" and the value of that churn from one defined period to another.

Scenario

Let's say you want to view the clients you had lost/churned in 2021. You would set report parameters as follows:

  • Earlier Reporting Period = 2020/January - 2020/December
  • Later Reporting Period = 2021/January - 2021/December
  • New Business Threshold = 100%
  • Revenue or Billings = Revenue

With the above settings, the report would list all clients who had revenue in 2020, but did not have revenue in 2021.  In other words, revenue decreased from 2020 to 2021 for each client on the report.

Setting the Churn Threshold to 70%, for example, will include any client whose revenue decreased by 70% or more from 2020 to 2021.

The report also provides a Churn %.  In the above setting, it will show the total revenue lost from all churned clients in 2021 as a percentage of total revenue in 2020.

  1. Navigate to ACCOUNTING > General Ledger > General Ledger Reports.
