Timesheet Is Approved but Not Posting
If a timesheet is approved but not posting, it usually means something is blocking the final posting step even if approval looks complete.
Common Scenarios
- Time appears under Unposted Time even though it is approved
- Error message states the timesheet must be submitted or approved, but it already is
- Posting date exists, but time does not post
- Time appears on employee reports but not on job reports
Common Causes
A timesheet will not post if any of the following conditions exist:
- The job was made inactive or locked after the timesheet was approved
- The employee’s “Submit Required” setting was toggled on/off after time entry
- The task type is locked/restricted
- The office’s accounting period is closed
- Time posting runs on a schedule (or manually) and may not post immediately after approval
- The timesheet is stuck due to a system state mismatch (common after setting changes or period close/reopen activity)
Resolution Steps
- Confirm the job is active and allows time posting.
- Check if the employee record is active
- Confirm the accounting period is open for the employee’s office.
- Review whether Submit Required was recently changed for the employee
- Review whether the task type is locked or allows posting
- If all settings are correct and time still does not post, the timesheet is likely stuck and cannot be resolved by re-approving alone.
Helpful To Know
- Unposting and reposting may not be available depending on permissions.
