Option to Display Estimate Notes After Document Details

Overview

We’ve added a new display option for Estimates that allows notes to appear after the document details, instead of only at the top of the document. This gives teams more flexibility in how they present summary versus detailed information to clients.

What is it?

Users can now choose to display Estimate notes after the line items and totals, rather than in the document header. These notes are intended for longer, more detailed explanations that relate directly to the line items on the estimate.

This option is separate from the existing document-level notes, which continue to appear at the top of the document.

Why it matters

Customers have shared that header notes are best used for brief summaries, while more detailed explanations often make more sense after the cost details. This enhancement helps by:

  • Improving readability of client-facing documents

  • Allowing clearer context for detailed or explanatory comments

  • Supporting different presentation preferences without changing existing behavior

It’s especially useful when estimates include complex line items that benefit from additional explanation.

How it works

  • Estimates now support an option to print notes at the bottom of the document, after totals.

  • These notes are document-specific comments, distinct from header notes.

  • Existing rules for when notes can be added or amended continue to apply.

  • Header notes remain unchanged and continue to appear at the top of the document.

On the Notes page, you’ll see a new option at the top that allows you to enable displaying "Print Notes after Total". When selected, the notes will print below the line items and totals instead of in the header.

This ensures consistency while allowing Estimates to benefit from the new layout option immediately.

When is it needed?

This feature is ideal if you:

  • Include detailed explanations tied to estimate line items

  • Want to keep summaries at the top and details at the bottom

  • Need more flexibility in how estimates are presented to clients
