What's New - June 2nd, 2025
New Interactive Trial Balance Statement
What is it?
A new Interactive Trial Balance Statement is now available as part of the General Ledger reporting suite. Following the same interactive structure and functionality as the existing Interactive Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet Statements, this report can be accessed under Accounting > General Ledger > General Ledger Statements and Reports, positioned just after the Balance Sheet Statement.
Why it matters
This enhancement brings the Trial Balance into the interactive financial statements framework, allowing users to drill down into underlying transactions on demand.
How does it work?
Similar to other Interactive Financial Statements, you can:
- Navigate to Accounting > General Ledger > General Ledger Statements and Reports and select the Trial Balance Statement
- The Column Format defaults to "Month & Year To Date" . Additional formats will be supported in a future release.
- Apply relevant filters including accounting periods, currency options, and office selections
- Click Preview or Print to generate the interactive report
- Drill down into underlying transactions by clicking on specific values in the statement
- Print or save the report as a PDF
Field-Level Security for Employee User Access Group
What is it?
The User Access Group (UAG) field on the Employee record now features field-level security control. Access to view or edit this field is now governed by transaction-typer permissions, preventing unauthorized users from modifying group permissions.
- Full Access: Users with full access can both view and edit the User Access Group field on Employee records
- Read Only: Users with read-only access can view the User Access Group field, but it appears locked (greyed out) and cannot be edited.
A new “Default” checkbox has been added to the User Access Groups management screen, allowing one group to be designated as the system default.
Why it matters:
This enhancement prevents users from escalating their own privileges or inappropriately modifying access levels for other employees. Previously, users with full Employee access could change User Access Groups even without System Administrator rights, creating potential security risks. Now, only users with proper UAG permissions can assign or modify access group memberships.
How does it work?
-
When a user without full UAG permissions adds a new employee, the system automatically assigns the default User Access Group and disables editing.
-
When modifying employee records, changes to the UAG field are blocked unless the user has full UAG permissions.
-
These restrictions apply any time a user without full UAG permissions:
-
-
Adds a new employee
-
Modifies an existing employee
-
Imports employee data
-
This ensures consistent security controls and prevents unauthorized access level changes throughout the system.
