New controls for prior-year adjustments and Estimate billable time rates.

Post prior-year adjustment journals without opening the accounting month

What is it?

Authorized users can now post or unpost adjustment journals in month 12 of the previous accounting year without reopening the closed accounting month. Access is controlled through the new Journals – Create Prior Year Adjustments transaction type.

Why does it matter?

Year-end adjustments can be completed through a more controlled workflow, avoiding the need to reopen the prior period solely to post an adjustment. This reduces disruption while keeping the ability to change closed-period financial data limited to authorized users.

How does it work?

Create the journal for month 12 of the year immediately before the Current Accounting Year, then post or unpost it as needed. Counta warns that the month is closed and reminds you to re-create the current year’s GL Opening Balances. Select OK to continue or Cancel to stop the action.

Administrators and users whose User Access Group includes "Journals – Create Prior Year Adjustments" can use this function. Users with full journal access can create the adjustment journal but cannot post it unless they have this additional access.

Control who can edit billable time rates on Estimates

What is it?

A new Estimates – Edit Billable Time Rates transaction type lets agencies control which users can edit the billable Rate on Time lines in an Estimate.

Why does it matter?

Agencies can protect standard billable rates, reduce unintended pricing changes, and reserve rate overrides for designated roles while continuing to give other users access to create and maintain Estimates.

How does it work?

Users with the new transaction access can edit billable rates on Estimate lines with a Charge Type of "Time". Users without it must use the default rate defined by the agency. User Access Groups that previously had Full Access to Estimates received this permission automatically; administrators can review and adjust access as needed.
