Custom Analyses and Dashboards through QuickSight
Overview
Amazon QuickSight is Accountability’s advanced custom reporting solution that enables agencies to create tailored analyses and dashboards using their operational data. QuickSight extends beyond standard reporting capabilities to offer flexible analysis tools, self-service report creation, user-defined visualizations, and custom dashboard creation.
The QuickSight user interface is embedded directly within Accountability, allowing users to access dashboards from their profile without switching platforms.
Prerequisites
Before using QuickSight in Accountability, ensure the following:
- Your agency database has been enabled for QuickSight (submit a setup request).
- You have an active Accountability user profile.
- Your user record has been registered for QuickSight access.
- You’ve been assigned the appropriate access level (Author or Reader).
- Relevant datasets (e.g., General Ledger, Jobs, Timesheets) are available and connected.

Working with Datasets
QuickSight dashboards are powered by datasets connected to Accountability. Available datasets include:
| Dataset | Description |
|---|---|
| General Ledger | Financial data for revenue, expenses, and balances. |
| Jobs | Project-level data including estimates and costs. |
| Timesheets | Employee time tracking and job allocations. |
| Media | Vendor and media spend data. |
Users can:
- Select variables such as client, job, or GL account.
- Define time periods (Month, YTD, Last 12 Months).
- Apply filters and comparative metrics.
- Use Financial Report Format to select relevant GL accounts.
Recurring datasets can be scheduled for automatic refresh or creation.

- Customize dashboard tiles and layout.
- Publish dashboards to other users in the agency.
- Set dashboards as homepage defaults for quick access.
