Setting Up QuickSight
Overview
QuickSight is Accountability’s advanced reporting and dashboarding solution. Before your agency can begin using QuickSight, the database must be activated by the Accountability support team. Once enabled, administrators can register users and assign access levels directly within the platform.
This article outlines the steps to request QuickSight activation and register users for access.
Step 1: Submit a Setup Request
To enable QuickSight for your agency:
- Navigate to the Support Tickets section by clicking the magnifying glass icon in the top navigation bar.
- Select Submit a New Ticket.
- In the Subject field, enter:
Enable QuickSight for Agency. - Set the Severity to
Standardunless otherwise instructed. - In the Description, include your agency name and confirm that you would like QuickSight enabled for your database.
- Click Submit.
Alternatively, you can email the request to support@counta.com with the same details.
Once the request is processed, you will receive confirmation that QuickSight has been activated for your agency.
Step 2: Register Users for QuickSight
After QuickSight is enabled, administrators can register individual users:
- Navigate to Master Files > Employees.
- Open the employee record for the user you wish to register.
- Under Settings, click Register QuickSight User.
- Choose the appropriate access level:
- Author: Can create reports and dashboards.
- Reader: View-only access.
- Click OK. The system will automatically create a QuickSight user account.
Repeat this process for each user who requires access.
Step 3: Manage Access Settings
To manage QuickSight access for groups of users:
- Go to Set Up Files > User Access Groups.
- Select the relevant group.
- Assign QuickSight-related permissions by selecting the appropriate transaction types.
- Use the Dashboard Tile Form to control access to specific dashboard tiles.
This allows you to define which users can view, create, or publish dashboards within QuickSight.
Security and Permissions Notes
- Only users with active Accountability profiles can be registered for QuickSight.
- Access levels (Author vs. Reader) determine whether a user can build dashboards or only view them.
- Permissions can be updated or revoked at any time through the User Access Groups module.
